The Village of Minooka is located in the counties of Grundy, Kendall, and Will, Illinois approximately fifty miles southwest of the city of Chicago. Minooka was home to the Pottowatomi Indian Tribe until the appearance of white settlers in the area in 1833. The arrival of the railroad in 1852 brought significant growth to the area and the community was incorporated in 1869. Today, the Village is a burgeoning community of more than 10,000 residents and still growing. Minooka falls in the humid continental climate zone of the U.S. and experiences hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters, with beautiful, mild weather in the springtime and fall seasons. No matter what the season, Minooka is great any time of the year!
Minooka is a close-knit community with a large number of service organizations. The village is served by the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Minooka Federated Women’s Club, Channahon/Minooka Rotary Club, and the Greater Channahon Minooka Chamber of Commerce.
The Village sponsors an annual Summerfest, which features live music, great food, bingo, a climbing wall, kiddie parade, 5K race, and an arts & crafts fair. They also host an annual Halloween Parade, as well as numerous other events, both large and small, throughout the year.
